This is a private reference site, not an Albany County government office. We cannot confirm whether someone is in custody, release anyone, post bond, schedule a visit, pull an official booking record, or change a public record. Those requests must go to the office or lookup system that maintains the record.
Where to Look First
Albany County custody and record questions depend on the type of record and the agency that holds it. Use the official contacts and lookup paths below when a current custody question, booking record, FOIL request, or out-of-county transfer needs direct confirmation.

- For charges filed after an arrest, use court records after a jail arrest and the appropriate court record source.
- For the local detention facility, use the Albany County Correctional Facility page listed in the footer.
- For statewide custody notification, use New York VINELink; for sentenced state prison custody, use New York DOCCS incarcerated lookup.
- For federal or immigration detention, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator System.
Public Records Requests
Albany County public-record requests, including many FOIL requests, can be submitted through the county's NextRequest public records portal. Electronic records may be emailed when no exemption applies. In-person inspection is available at no charge, and paper copies are generally 25 cents per page. The County Clerk is listed as FOIL Officer, the District Attorney uses the same portal, and the Public Information Officer can be reached at 518-487-5110.
New York Public Officers Law Section 87 and Section 89 set the basic access and response framework for public records. A FOIL request is not the same as a real-time custody check, so time-sensitive custody, release, visitation, or medical questions should go directly to the jail or sheriff's office.
